Masoud Mozafari (born November 13, 1984) is an engineer, scientist, inventor and futurist. He earned his PhD degree with honors on Biomedical Engineering-Biomaterials from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), 2013. He then joined Oklahoma State University and Pennsylvania State University as a research associate and research visiting scholar, respectively. His research interests involve the understanding of whole field of tissue engineering, nanotechnology and biomaterials with respect to biological interactions, and also delivery systems for potentially useful stem cell and genetic purposes.He is known for the development of strategies for the treatment of damaged tissues/organs and controlling biological substances for target delivery into the human body. He has published extensively in the area of biomedical engineering, and as of April 2016, he has been cited more than 1500 times and has an h-index of 22. Furthermore, some of his publications earned him the honor of being included among the “Top 25 Hottest Articles”, and featured as “The most downloaded articles” and "The most cited articles" from SciVerse ScienceDirect. He has received several awards including “Top 10 National Outstanding Scientific Authors” (2012). He is also one of the recipients of the Julia Polak European Doctorate Award for outstanding translational research contributions to the field of biomaterials from The European Society for Biomaterials. He is currently an assistant professor and head of “Bioengineering Research Group” in Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials Department, Materials and Energy Research Center (MERC). He is also an adjunct assistant professor in Cellular and Molecular Research Center, and Department of Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine, Faculty of Advanced Technologies in Medicine, Iran University of Medical Sciences.
